Back to Writing… Again

At the time of writing, the last time I wrote in this blog was on June 4th, 2024; more than two years ago. It’s not only far too long to have a proper excuse; it’s straight up shameful that the last post talks about a tool (WezTerm) I don’t even use anymore. I would love to start writing that series again, because my tool setup has changed a great deal (as has my job) since the popularization of agentic programming. As a configuration nerd, I have a lot of little knobs and workflows for working with LLMs¹ that I figure can be useful for a lot of people.

I have been meaning to pick up the blog again in the meantime, but I have probably neglected it more than I should have because I now have a public facing version of my Digital Garden, so I can share small snippets and practices there when needed without writing a proper piece. However, I am not super happy with the design, performance or ergonomics of that open Obsidian vault, and I am actively working right now on a full revamp that will allow me to implement missing features or changes (and stop being so JS-heavy). It’s probably that work which made me realize that I miss caring for this blog, and how these well-thought-out, standalone pieces are probably easier to digest for most people.

It’s also probably related to how invested I have been in the ATProto ecosystem, and how I missed the small internet and had grown tired of the large social networks. I have seen the super fun projects people are working on using it and I could not help but jump on it. This is actually the first post I will publish in this blog after providing a full integration with ATProto using standard.site lexicons. I am also planning on releasing soon a quick post summarizing all the new projects I am using with my single ATProto identity, how they relate to each other and what I use each one for. As a quick spoiler: two weeks ago I picked up Bluesky, the original one I had, and right now I have 9 tabs of different ATProto services open that I am evaluating. Stay tuned if you want to see my digest of them.

I know this was a brief post and light on content, but I wanted to start again creating the habit, and feeling the kick of publishing a short piece and throwing it out on the internet. Let’s hope I can pick it up!
